My name is Brendan Gisby. Welcome to my website. It's called the frustrated writer, because that's what I have been up until now.
I have always wanted to write - it has been my one true passion in life - but life itself has always got in the way. Having retired recently after many years in business, I can now devote much more time to my passion. I have set up the website as a way not only to gather together and preserve my writing, but also to share it with relatives and friends - and with any strangers who may drop by.
You can use the buttons on the right to access the writing. At present, you'll find two complete collections of short stories and two collections still under development.
The first collection is also called The Frustrated Writer. It dusts off early stories of mine and finishes a journal that I began more than three decades ago. Read the foreword for a full explanation.
The stories in the second collection, entitled Ferry Tales, are about growing up in my hometown during the 1950s and 1960s.
The stories in the follow-up collection, More Ferry Tales, take place, for the most part, in the late 1960's and the early 1970's. I'm still adding to that collection.
The last collection, called Venetian Lives, draws on my experiences of a recent six-month sojourn in Venice, the most beautiful city in the world. The stories are about life in La Serenissima. I'm also still adding to that collection.
